The sand garden
A garden of raked sand, in the way of the dry gardens of Japan. The gardener never stops: the rake goes round the stones, then across the sand, then begins again a different way. Pour some sand in its path and watch it raked back into order, or take the rake yourself.
Be still
There is nothing to win here. It is a place to rest the eyes and slow the breath for a minute, and to notice how little it takes to disturb a garden and how patiently it is put right again.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
