Botswana

A land of delta and desert: the Okavango spreading into the Kalahari, salt pans to the horizon, and rivers where the elephants come down to drink.

The land of Botswana

A few of the places that make the country what it is. The pictures are illustrations of the landscape, not photographs of our work.

  1. A calm channel lined with papyrus and water lilies in early morning mist.

    The Okavango Delta

The Okavango River never reaches the sea. It spreads out into the Kalahari as a great inland delta of channels, lagoons and islands.

  2. A white salt pan stretching to the horizon at dusk, a lone baobab at its edge.

    The Makgadikgadi Pans

Among the largest salt pans in the world: the bed of an ancient lake, white and flat to the horizon.

  3. A herd of elephants drinking and crossing a broad river in late afternoon light.

    The Chobe River

On the northern border, where great herds of elephants come down to the water in the dry season.

Our work in Botswana

Botswana is one of the twenty-one countries named on our entry in the Charities Register, where the trust works through associates.

No seminar or gathering is planned in Botswana yet. If you live there and would like one, or would like to hear first when one is, join free or write to us. A person reads every letter.
